The Environmental Studies Program of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh showed the movie “Delicious Peace Grows in a Ugandan Coffee Bean” on April 8 as part of their fair trade movement film series. Oshkosh is the first university in America to be declared a "Fair Trade University." The goal of the University's fair trade movement is to improve the lives of producers and their communities along with protecting their environment at the same time. To be considered a fair trade university, an official declaration is needed, which, at Oshkosh, was performed by Chancellor Richard Wells in 2008, and an overseeing committee. UW's fair trade committee is composed of student, faculty and staff who work diligently toward economic justice for farmers and producers.
